Anonymous asked: How do you get your ideas out? I get so frustrated because i can see it in my mind but i cant get it on to paper.

I think this comes with experience and practice.  The ideas I get out are usually shades of the ideas that are in my head, but I’m trying my best to translate them onto the page without losing too much of their integrity.  Drawing tiny thumbnails of your vision helps make it more concrete without defining too much.  Our brains don’t work the same way as our hands and eyes do, so nothing is ever gonna be exact.  If you think of the core of your idea (generally that means an emotion for me) and try to convey that as accurately as you can (regardless of accuracy to your mental image) I find I usually get a pleasing result.

Don’t be afraid to try more than once too.  Sketching is a good idea and very likely you’ll have to do something over.  I still hate re-doing pictures when I can’t get them write. ; |  It’s shitty but a lot of the time it needs to be done, so don’t think you’re alone in that struggle.

You also have to learn to let go.  Don’t be precious about ideas because while they may work in your head they might not always work on paper.  While they may sound GREAT in your head, they might not actually be that good… Adaptation and knowing when shit just ain’t gonna fly are two hard lessons to learn.
