crimson-sun asked: If we're talking about your awesome FFVII redesigns - I would die if you drew Hojo. Just fyi. (Also, I've been a big fan for a long time! Your art is so stylish, and always has a great sense of movement.)
Hojo will definitely happen as well, the creeper. Though his design was always really well done so I can’t imagine there’d be much aside a wardrobe change up. :>
abakkus asked: Hi! I had a question re: commercial commissions, since you seem to be knowledgeable in that field. I've always done personal commissions, but I was recently approached about a possible commercial commission, and I'm not really sure how to approach it re: pricing and rights? I've noticed other artists talking about changed prices to give the commissioner the right to redistribute, but I don't know how to go about that myself. Can you give me any advice?
I generally double or triple the cost of my normal commissions for commercial commissions, depending on the rights the client wants and how wide the distribution is. Its a rule of thumb I use for my own work but a lot of amateur artists (and by amateur I simply mean artists who have not taken commercial commissions before) price their personal commission way way waaaaay too low to begin with, so when they double or triple their prices they’re actually only increasing them to the amount of what they should be selling personal commissions for.
This is a really good guide / breakdown of industry standard pricing versus what people charge on tumblr or DA. I don’t agree with the ‘fandom’ prices— and i think that’s kind of the point. However the top section, with the industry prices, is a pretty good base to start from and then you can adjust them how you see fit.
Another decent rule of thumb; if you’re just starting out, take how long it will take for you to do the commission (how many hours you spent on it), then divide the hours by the price you’re being paid and if you’re getting minimum wage or less then you need to up your price. Up your price until you’re getting what you are comfortable with. $20/hour - $30/hour is a good wage to aim for if you’re trying to make a living.
invincibleprincess asked: As an extension of the last ask, do you plan to draw Zack? Because I might just melt.
I will definitely DEFINITELY be drawing Zack, though it will be more FF7 version of him… less Crisis Core.
Anonymous asked: Your Final Fantasy 7 redesigns look awesome! I was just wondering, are you planning to one day make a fancomic retelling of the game?
I have no idea at this point lol! I would love to but I have zero time to put towards another comic right now. It’s a future project I want to do though, i think it would be super fun :>
agent-merlot asked: Have you ever drawn the genesis, sephiroth, and angeal trio from ff7 crisis core? That would make my year!
Ahhhh! I haven’t drawn them! Sephiroth is definitely on my list of bros to draw though. Sadly I don’t think i’ll get to Angeal or Gen :< I’m kind of sticking to the original game characters on that one, as they’re the ones I fell in love with <3
Anonymous asked: Hey! Do you think you're going to be at AX this year by any chance? :3
Sadly no, that convention is way too large and too much of a cluster for me to venture that far to be in the AA ;;
agent-merlot asked: I've always liked your art, but I believe I must've fallen behind at some point. Might I ask what the amaranthine project is? Is it an animation? A comic? If so, is there a youtube or web link?
Hahah! It’s a webcomic! It had a kickstarter! and now I’m working on the first book to send it out to donators! <3
What did I get myself into? -
My eyes flutter open to a brilliant orange and yellow sky. Finch sits beside me, chewing on a long piece of grass as he looks out into the distance. My heart jumps into my throat and I scramble away from him, wincing as the pain in my shoulder flares. I grasp at the wound, shallow breaths trickling from my chapped lips as Finch and I look at each other. After a few seconds, he stands and shakes his head. Both of his guns are secured in their holsters.
“Get up,” Finch says, striding toward me and grabbing my uninjured arm. “You’ve stirred up a whole heap of trouble, Linds.” I don’t move. He crouches down next to me. “Now, you’re coming with me once and for all. Y’understand? Or do I have to tie your hands so you won’t swat at me and my boys?”
So—Michelle Webber, writer and co-author of Boot Hill, has started up an awesome blog on WordPress wherein she’ll be chronicling her writing adventures and posting excepts from Boot Hill along the way.
She’s starting the first book this summer and I am beyond excited for it. I highly recommend following her progress, it’s gonna be good.
